A Research Project by the Southwest Redevelopment Authority [TIRZ #20 ]
Provide largest detention/retention floodwater control in Southwest Houston.
Develop recreation park, nature center, and connections to the Keegans Bayou Trail. Restore ponds, wetland plants, forest, pollinator habitat.
Provide economic catalyst providing office space, housing, retail services and jobs.
Obtain community consensus for future direction.
Resilient and sustainable opportunities featuring net zero emissions.
Overview:
Masterplan and Study for High-Performance Resilient Mixed-Use Redevelopment on 143 acres of former closed household waste landfill and golf course. The property is currently vacant and underutilized.
This project will provide much needed flood water detention adjacent to the bayou along with redeveloping major economic, recreational, and environmental conservation and education redevelopment in Southwest Houston.

Explore various approaches to integrating detention and real estate concepts to lower the cost of redevelopment
Reflect alternative future regional growth scenarios
Provide options that can be shaped into a preferred concept
Establish community consensus for redevelopment
